Sponge Bob

Okay So I asked everyones advice on what to do with this spongebob fabric and I want to thank everyone for their inputs I got alot of great ideas. Then I came across this book on my shelf called "Clever Quilts Encore" . I was hoping to find the quilt that I thought might work on the net but its not there. So I am going to proceed to describe it the best I can. I would map it out in EQ and post it but I have yet to put EQ back on the computer since it crashed.

Here goes there are 2 basic blocks in the quilt 1 is just a square of fabric they used 6" but I can change it to 8 if I want. and then the second block is a 4 patch but 2 squares are smaller 4 patches. Does that make sense? It creates the chain like effect? If I use the spongebob for the bigger blocks and then the other stuff for the 4 patch I think it would look cool. Not to mention I may use the same pattern for the Dale Junior quilt my brother has been begging me for.

I'm not set on the idea. I'm cleaning house and hoping to get some inspiration to sew this evening. That would be great if I could get some more things sewn. I felt like I did alot yesterday even though I really didn't.

Well I need to get back to cleaning and picking up.

Friday Night

Well I finished my brothers Nascar pillows with the exception of one last seam and I need black thread to do it. What do you know I can't find my black thread. So close to finishing one more UFO!! Then I decided that I needed something quick and easy.

Last night I designed and sewed all but the bottom hem on some little fabric covers that I am going to slip over the containers that I put my cat food in. I have been using one of the super huge buckets that you buy Jonny Cat litter in, yes I cleaned them out before putting cat food in them. But they are great for storage and I just decided to cover them up so that they looked cool sitting on the shelf in the kitchen.

I have got to find some elastic to run through the top and then I will be sure to take and post pictures. I have a list of projects to do today and hope to get a bunch done. That will all depend on how much worse I feel and how many naps I decide to take.. LOL. I got the yellow fever vaccination yesterday and was warned that I wouldn't feel great today.. nice right just in time for my weekend.

More help...

I have this fabric and have no idea how to use it. I want to cut it for a quilt or something of the sort but haven't found a pattern that says "ME ME ME". So here I am asking for advice to see what you might think.

Yes its more spongebob .. I don't quite get it but he likes it. Well likes spongebob he hasn't seen this fabric yet. I guess this would be comparable to my younger brother liking scooby doo:
Here are the other fabrics I thought would contrast well:

Now to find a pattern with squares big enough to not destroy the sponge bob pattern. Thanks in advance

Goodies for some friends

Well I did enjoy my sewing this weekend even though it was a bit mindless. I made a BUNCH of pillowcases for some friends. I don't know yet what they are going to think of them but do know that FF as Jen affectionately calls him thinks they are COOL! That in itself is a bonus.

Here are some pictures of the pillowcases that I made:

I enjoyed that so much today that I am debating sitting at the sewing machine for a little longer working on some other things. I don't want to ruin the motivation.. smiles.
Well I am off to work on some other things I have some house tidying and other things that would like to get done before going to school/work tomorrow.

Projects

Well I promised pictures of the things that I have worked on and I have a few for everyone. I still participate in an online group called the Silly Gals and we recently did a challenge fabric block. I have done a couple of these previously and have mentioned them on my blog. Heres a picture of the latest:

That I believe was by far one of my best blocks that I have ever done. Tracey was the proud winner of this rounds blocks.. ENJOY!

The Silly Gals also recently had a pin cushion swap that I also participated in. I'm always on the lookout for cute pin cushions because they make great gifts for your crafty friends but always go back to my stand by chicken pin cushions. I love them.. if you do them in different colors they could be what ever bird you wanted them to be. Here are the ones that I made for my partner:

I already got confirmation that my partner recieved them and likes them so I was pretty excited.

Mindless sewing..

Sunday I didn't get as much done as I had wanted to. I know it wasn't fun for my brother and his fiancee but I had things to do. I have a list that is soo long and I want to make that effort to get things done before I have to go.

I did get some laundry done, I sewed all but the last couple of seams on 5 pillow cases yesterday. I had intended on finishing them last night but fell asleep on the couch. Today I have more of the same planned. I have a list of things to get done to include putting pictures here on my blog.

I hope that everyone that had a relaxing weekend and that those that have vacation today enjoy their day.. Smiles

Saturday

Well I didn't get any sewing in yesterday just couldn't get motivated to start cutting things. Today though as long as my brother and his fiancee don't want to do anything to exciting then I will cut pillowcases and possibly some other fabric for a quilt. Maybe Ryan can find the fabric that I seem to have lost.. LOL

I am hoping that my brother and his fiancee decide to just chill out and hang watch movies etc. They wanted to go to the cheese factory and that I'm sure would have been fun but I'm just not feeling the site seeing thing this time. It has been raining off and on and I just want to sit home and sew or watch tv.

I still have to get some pictures up on here of my challenge block and the pin cushions from the pin cushion swap. I would just really love some mindless sewing today you know just a bunch of straight lines with no thought at all.

Help Help!!

First let me say that I am super excited to be starting this weekend. I have lots of stuff set out and organized and I plan on doing alot of sewing this weekend provided that my friend doesn't keep me occupied with text messages.

Moneik I did get your email last week and may have to take you up on the offer but I am going to try to get things put together before I leave. I already have a list of the things that need to get done and then a note for what to do with things that I don't get finished. Mom will mail the things that I don't get together after I leave if need be.

OKAY so here is where I need my quilting blog friends help. I have a friend (yes its a boy.. smiles) he is an absolute sweetheart. As with everything else our friendship just came along in a really hectic time for me trying to study for my military training and preparing to depoly but he seems to not be bothered by any of this. I wanted to write and tell everyone before what a great guy he was but didn't want to jinxs things. As far as I know he has not ventured to find my blog online even though he knows that I have one. He knows all about my meows, and my obsession with quilting and crafting and HE LIKES IT. Brownie points for him right?

Heres the delimma... I'm still getting ready to leave for deployment. He is bound and determined to make me understand that he will be here when I get back waiting so that we can continue to get to know each other. I would really love to give him something before I go that lets him know that I care but yet at the same time isn't TOO serious. Things (including relationships) always happen fast in the military and just don't want to screw this one up.

Right now I already have fabric to make him a pillowcase and there is a story behind that too. He loves to watch cartoons with his nephew and I thought that it would be a neat idea to make them matching cartoon pillowcases so that they could have their saturday morning pillows together. Mom suggested that I either embroider or write with my ident-a-pen something on the inside of the cuff of his pillowcase so I was going to do that. I would really like to do something more does anyone have ANY ideas? I have talked to Jen about him and with out going into too many details she could tell you that he is an absolute sweetheart who would if he could give me the world. Thanks in advance

OMG.. It has been FOREVER!!

I know it has been forever since I last posted. I did not fall off the face of the earth (well not literally anyway). I have been so busy with things that I just don't know which way is where any more!! I have done some sewing but not much.

This weekend is supposed to be a relaxing weekend we'll see how that goes though. Things in the last couple months have been anything but relaxing. There have been good times and well some rather stressfull (want to pull you hair out times) that I just felt were pretty pointless to share with everyone.

First let me say hello to mom who has sent me emails on almost a daily basis that say "What happened to my favorite blogger she disappeared". Luckily she doesn't depend on my blog to keep up with the happenings in my life.. smiles. We did get moms blog started and she has posted a few times. She is currently in Colorado this week taking care of the house there.. Oh and mom don't forget to say hello to my new baby for me!! Just kidding!!

Now there have been alot of other work things going on some I can talk about others that well I won't even mention. Things have been pretty confusing my squadron recently deployed with out me. I am supposed to be meeting up with them later but still don't know when. Things have been finalized for my re-enlistment!! I will be re-enlisting on June 12th the day after I graduate from this school. For those that dont know I will hit my 10 years active service in the Navy June 8th, I will finally be paid for making First Class Petty Officer (E-6) on June 16th. I do get a bonus for re-enlisting and had all this quilty stuff in mind in the begining but things have since changed and other deals have been set into motion.

Remember when I mentioned earlier for mom to say hello to my new baby? Well if everything goes as planned I will be buying my dads GIANORMOUS truck from him as well as trading him my truck (smaller 2002 silverado extended cab). That would be my new baby sitting in the garage there with mom in colorado. I love my dads truck!! I have loved it from the very first time that he called me on the phone and said hey listen to this as he rev'ed the engine. Let me tell you a little about this truck... Its an 05' Silverado, Crewcab, Longbed and yes its a DIESEL! Do I need a truck that big NO! and diesel is not getting any cheaper (thank god I still have my little honda) the thought behind it was that dad had FINALLY gotten the big boys truck that he had always wanted and he was ready to trade it in because of fuel prices and what not. Being the good daughter that I am, I knew that if he got rid of it that he would be sorry so as a joke I told him that I would trade and he agreed. Its a win win I get a pretty new truck and he can still come and visit it... HA HA HA just kidding.. he still has the ability to use it when he needs it. It is by no means going to be my daily driver to work. I will have to drive it a few times just to make the boys a little self concious about how little their trucks are ha ha ha... (cheesy grin).

Well that is all for me tonight I need to head to bed so that I can go to school in the morning. 3 more weeks and I'm done with school YEAH!! Oh and stay tuned for new pictures of some chicken pincushions, Ryans pillows and a Challenge fabric block!! See I did do some sewing.
