Finally!! Time to catch up on things!!

Okay so I am super excited today/ this week. Monday I checked out of the squadron (Sea Duty) and checked in with the limited duty coordinator. If I hadn't mentioned it before the doctors in San Diego decided to put me limited duty/ Non-deployable (Shore duty). This is supposed to be for 6 months or until they figure out what the heck is wrong with my arm.

Tuesday I finished checking in to limited duty and they told me that they thought that they had a job temporarily for me but they would talk to me about it in the morning. They cut me loose and I headed home to change and then out to the apartment to clean up since the keys were due Friday. Keith met me out there and we proceeded to sanitize the crap out of everything.

Wednesday I went in to work and sat around waiting for my assignment and about 11 or so they told me to go over to another building and talk to YN1 that I would be working with her. She was swamped with Evaluations and told me that she really didn't have anything and that I could go and come back the next day ready for work. Mind you I had to go buy new uniforms and such because in the office they wear uniforms that I hadn't had to wear at the squadron yet. So I was off to get uniforms eat lunch with Keith and the boys and then head to my Occupational therapy appointment. After Therapy I met Keith out at the apartment where we cleaned carpets touched up the bathrooms and kitchen and cleaned the tile floors. FINALLY everything was out of the apartment and everything was clean.

Today was my first day at my new job.. I was a little lost.. a little aggravated but it worked out and I think that it will all work out in the end there seems to be a little bright spot in everything that has happened in the last month.. (A lot more that had happened that I didn't have the heart to blog about.) I went out to the apartment did a walk through.. they were amazed said that they were going to only charge for the carpet cleaning (required by state law) and I would get my deposit back minus that... Can you say YEAH!!! Not to mention that I am going into a weekend where the apartment and the mess isn't looming over my head. We (Keith and I) will get things moved around so that I can get to things and see things and I might get a good Saturdays worth of sewing in (depending on therapy) since the boys are going to be working on vehicles.

I have a bunch of projects in mind.. some gifts and thank yous that I need to get working on. A few RAKs that I have been meaning to work on things like that.. Oh and a super awesome eagle picture that Keith wanted. I will be on the look out for Keith type quilt patterns and fabric. Any ideas let me know hes the patriotic eagle type.. loves Ford and trucks of all kinds. Yes I still have the sponge bob quilt that I started.. it needs borders but I want to make something that is more adult like for him.

I'm still excited I see more sewing time in my future (limited off course so that I don't make my arm worse) since I have normal work hours now.. stay tuned for pictures of projects in the works.. smiles. Time to head for bed... work starts early tomorrow.. Smiles

Finally

Well I finally got some sewing done today and yesterday and though its not complete yet I hope to have a completed project to show you this weekend or so. Here's the story on the latest project. While I was home at mom and dad's this weekend my brothers girlfriend asked me if I could make something for them.. I thought they wanted some more pillow cases or something.. well sort of they wanted me to make some actual pillows to use on the futon in their game/computer room. Easy enough right? So off we headed to Joanns to get some fabric having NO clue what kind of pillows that I was going to make.

We found out that pillow forms were on sale 50% off so we got 2-27" square pillows and then my brother found some new dale jr fabric with his new number 88. It was much nicer to work with then the red and black.. I think I was just tired of it.

Here are a couple pictures.. I am going to add another row of blue after the checkered fabric.. What do you think? Think it is stylish enough to go in his game room?

The first one is layed across the pillow form. the extra blue border is going to be just and extra sham type flap.

This is actually just front piece I am going to sew to seperate back peices so that they can stuff the pillow in and be able to wash the cover.. I think they will turn out nice.. Too bad he doesn't read the blog or he would get a sneak peek of his soon to be pillows.

Monday Monday

Well after about 4 hours sleep and a fight with Louise that it just wasn't time to get up yet (boy is she persistant. I am up and moving. I already talked to DMV that should be taken care of but then again knowing the problems I had the last time that is no a for sure thing either. Personnel told me to wait until this afternoon to call them so I will call them at about 330 or so.

I ended up cleaning up both bathrooms yesterday as well as both kitty bathrooms they were giving me that look you know the "EWE do I have to step in this?" look. I change the litter twice a week and scoop several times a day but some times it just needs an extra changing.

I don't know if I mentioned it last night but I cleaned the kitchen floor, did the dishes emptied the dishwasher, and vacuumed the living room. I was even going to bake some muffins for breakfast this morning but realised last night that I didn't have any eggs. So if I get to the store and get the eggs maybe that will work out for dinner.. Hamburger Helper or Tuna Helper and muffins? As a kid thats what mom did tuna helper and big crumb top blueberry muffins.. yummy.. She must have made those to help her mask the taste of the tuna since she hates fish and peas which I always remember being in the tuna helper.

I hope to complete one (actually 2 of the same) project today. I will need to dig through my boxes and find a fabric, and some elastic for it.. have I got you thinking? I'm not telling what it is until I get it done and can take pictures to model it.. Maybe you'll think that its crazy me on the other had think its great.

Until later.. Have a great quilty day.

Challenge winner Named!

Well the challenge winner was named! It was a lady named Karen and she made a super awesome paper piece block. Thus the reason that I need to lern to paper piece it opens a whole new world of possabilities.

So I had a thought and I am going to jump on this when I get everything moved up north. Notice I didn't say unpacked and settled? I don't think that I can wait that long. I am going to issue a challenge out there to everyone. Pick one fabric from your stash and and create your own challenge quilt... pick just random quilt blocks that you like and figure out how to incorporate your stash fabric into it. I have packed most of my fabric but I have some ideas that I want to try to use.

I have a bunch of western fabric that I want to make things for my new apartment when I get the chance and honestly can't wait. I want to start creating and making things again.

If this challenge doesn't suit your fancy but your interested in a challenge like my group did let me know and I'll see about getting one started once I get up north. I would be happy to be the swap moderator if people were interested. My group usually does 12 1/2 in blocks but we can do what ever we want 6 inch.. 8 inch.. we ould use them to make wall hangings or table runners.. heck if we did table runners and only got 3 or 4 participants maybe depending on the fabric we could just do a table runner challenge... I have all these great ideas this morning .. primaraly because I'm trying to procrastinate going to work just that much longer.

Well I really have to get going so I will write again soon. Today is my last WORKING day at the squadron so I am hoping that I can skate out of there super early but think that I have one more investigation to finish before they will let me leave.
