Great Friday

Well it has been a good friday so far. I came into work early and it didn't feel like a chore.. That feels so good. I did wake up and not want to get out of bed but I think that was just because it has been a really busy few weeks and I am really tired. So today I am going to head to my Occupational Therapy and on the way home pick up some stuff for dinner and probably a movie. We have started this routine of friday movie night but the last couple of nights I was so tired I went to bed and then the second one I fell asleep during the movie. So I will pick up a couple of movies.. One for tonight and one for me to watch tomorrow when I get me time. Can you tell I am still super excited about that? The boys are going to be working on the truck so I get me time.

I haven't decided just what I want to work on tomorrow. Still in the debating process. If I work on cross stitch I have 2 kits (both for Keith) that the thread is all seperated and ready to go. But I really wanted to sew with my new machine that has probable less than 15 minutes worth of use on it. I have a new desk that is begging for some personalization at work BUT I don't want to get too comfortable to have them transfer me to san diego.. You know? So I need something small to work on until I can build back up to the projects I already had going.

I have some placemats that are begging to be sewn together.. some pillow cases that need some attention.. Oh and Yo yos that need some lovin too... Hmm seems like its going to be a very busy saturday.. Think I am going to need to put together munchies tonight so that I won't have to worry about it tomorrow.

So depending on how tonight goes I may have a picture update in the morning as to what I worked on tonight.. Well I will try to get pictures anyway so that I can show you my new place... the New truck that I have yet to show you.. and maybe some other odds and ends.

Finally!! Time to catch up on things!!

Okay so I am super excited today/ this week. Monday I checked out of the squadron (Sea Duty) and checked in with the limited duty coordinator. If I hadn't mentioned it before the doctors in San Diego decided to put me limited duty/ Non-deployable (Shore duty). This is supposed to be for 6 months or until they figure out what the heck is wrong with my arm.

Tuesday I finished checking in to limited duty and they told me that they thought that they had a job temporarily for me but they would talk to me about it in the morning. They cut me loose and I headed home to change and then out to the apartment to clean up since the keys were due Friday. Keith met me out there and we proceeded to sanitize the crap out of everything.

Wednesday I went in to work and sat around waiting for my assignment and about 11 or so they told me to go over to another building and talk to YN1 that I would be working with her. She was swamped with Evaluations and told me that she really didn't have anything and that I could go and come back the next day ready for work. Mind you I had to go buy new uniforms and such because in the office they wear uniforms that I hadn't had to wear at the squadron yet. So I was off to get uniforms eat lunch with Keith and the boys and then head to my Occupational therapy appointment. After Therapy I met Keith out at the apartment where we cleaned carpets touched up the bathrooms and kitchen and cleaned the tile floors. FINALLY everything was out of the apartment and everything was clean.

Today was my first day at my new job.. I was a little lost.. a little aggravated but it worked out and I think that it will all work out in the end there seems to be a little bright spot in everything that has happened in the last month.. (A lot more that had happened that I didn't have the heart to blog about.) I went out to the apartment did a walk through.. they were amazed said that they were going to only charge for the carpet cleaning (required by state law) and I would get my deposit back minus that... Can you say YEAH!!! Not to mention that I am going into a weekend where the apartment and the mess isn't looming over my head. We (Keith and I) will get things moved around so that I can get to things and see things and I might get a good Saturdays worth of sewing in (depending on therapy) since the boys are going to be working on vehicles.

I have a bunch of projects in mind.. some gifts and thank yous that I need to get working on. A few RAKs that I have been meaning to work on things like that.. Oh and a super awesome eagle picture that Keith wanted. I will be on the look out for Keith type quilt patterns and fabric. Any ideas let me know hes the patriotic eagle type.. loves Ford and trucks of all kinds. Yes I still have the sponge bob quilt that I started.. it needs borders but I want to make something that is more adult like for him.

I'm still excited I see more sewing time in my future (limited off course so that I don't make my arm worse) since I have normal work hours now.. stay tuned for pictures of projects in the works.. smiles. Time to head for bed... work starts early tomorrow.. Smiles

Medical Review Board

Wow where to start... Last week was just horrendous. Monday I was at work until after 10pm (arrived at 530 am) Tuesday I made it out of there by about 6pm (might have been 7). Wednesday I was notified that I was being sent to San Diego for a Medical Review board.....

Now I'm sure that everyone is thinking the same thing that I was.. How does that work?? I'm not sure either. I complained about my arm hurting again saw a couple of doctors and then was told they were starting paperwork. As much as I really really want to finish out my time in the navy (approx 9 more years). I can not continue to function every day in pain. This weekend was proof of just how many things I can't do with out help. Little things like sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, opening jars and containers.. all things I should be able to do with out help and I can't.

I haven't done any sewing since I have been home and think that I am going through withdraws. I wanted so badly to sew while the guys were watching the game today but that didn't happen either. I don't have to work tomorrow so maybe I can get something little sewn tomorrow. I have packed a few things so that I can move into town with Keith but that is about all I have done.

We have been talking about looking at a couple houses and maybe buying our own here soon but we'll see about that as well. Alot of things depend on if I stay in the navy or have to find another job. Not trying to be picky but if I get kicked out I have to find something that pays at lease $20+ an hour or I won't be able to make my bills...

Well the game is over.. I have to head out to my place here soon so that I can cuddle with my girls. Maybe get some more things packed tonight and maybe sew a few charm squares together.

I miss all my quilt friends dearly!!

Just another day.. Ugh

Well I am going to choose to forget about the fact that the squadron messed up my pay and decided to surf the net and do the things that make me happy. I haven't decided what I am going to sew today but I am going to sew! I am determined to do it.

So I thought about sewing my thimbleberries blocks for this months club project but realized just how many half square triangles there was and have decided to eat lunch first before I get knee deep in sewing.

I was looking at my thimbleberries news letter and read about their new Thimbleberries care collection. These are definately on my grocery list once I get all settled.. I am a big fan of thimbleberries fabrics.. I think that its because they are comfy warm fabrics.

I know you can't tell by the pictures but they are hand lotion, fabric wash, and linen spray. I have some chamomile spray that I use on the sheets after I have changed them. It really does help when I have restless nights.. its a calming smell.. I bought it at Bath and body works I believe and I'm not sure that they even sell it anymore.

School and Lemoore

Wow how to explain Lemoore. Lemoore is a Naval Air Station that is about 5+ hours drive north from where I'm stationed here in San Diego. Thats with NO traffic, you hit traffic on the grapevine and you'll be there any where from 6 to 10 hours. Mom and Dad live half way inbetween the two mileage wise but as far as the drive its shorter to Lemoore (I miss that). I was stationed in Lemoore for F-18 Legacy school. It's not a bad place, except for the small fact that there is not many quilting stores there.. I hope to be able to get past that with the internet and what not.
I am going back to school to learn to work on F-18 Super Hornets, the systems are different so I have to go back to school. It will be a nice break from the ground hog schedule that I live now. Hopefully I will be on days for school but that always depends on who the instructor is and what shift they need supervision on.
Jen thans for the idea of putting felt squares between the dishes I saw that they had used something in the pattern but had yet to figure out what it was. Rhoda I wasn't planning on using them for the everyday dishes, just for the ones that I don't use on a regular bases. Otherwise your right it would become a big pain in the butt.
I can't wait to go house hunting with mom. I really hope to find a great house. I am the only one of 5 kids that still lives in a little tiny apartment. Now I don't mind it being an apartment but I wish that I could have afforded a bigger one here. My kitties need more room and well it would be nice to have a little more space to spread things out so my furniture is not on top of each other.. Oh central air/ heat would be nice for a change rather than the little heater under the window.. LOL
Here is a picture I took of the girls:

Thelma almost always has that disgusted look.. I think maybe its the coloring in her face that makes it look like that. Lilly couldn't lay by herself with me she had to climb up there between her sisters and stretch all out. Louise (Wheezy) is very patient with Lilly and cuddles with her.. they all play together I love it that they get along

thanks for 'splaining! Your cats are adorable. I miss my kitty. Walter was 14 when he died over a year ago. He was a big orange and white cat who adopted us when he was about half grown - the day our other cat was killed on the road. It was kind of a weird thing. He was a good old boy who really enjoyed helping me sew. Pin a seam, slide the cat away from the needle. Pin a seam, slide the cat. Rhoda

Oh your kids are adorable and it's good that they get along so well. Thanks for explaining where it is you're going. I've never heard of that base before. Good luck on the house hunting and keep us informed.

Oh my gosh, they're adorable all together! http://cre8tivequilter.blogspot.com/2008/01/7-random-and-wacky-things-about-me.html Tag, You're it!!

My Weekend .. or lack of one

Well things at work were pretty messed up schedules messed up etc. I guess that is normal for things arpound here. I planned absolutely nothing for this weekend except a quilt lecture at the LQS. It was great. It was all about creating quick and easy quilts with 10 inch squares. The one that they demonstrated was called "Baby Cakes" it was yellow and white and when I can get a picture I'll post it. The weather was perfect quilting weather but I have slept most of the time that I had off and have to be back to work tonight at 10 pm.
I did get some little house cleaning chores done and I'm pretty excited about that! I have my little list of 5 minute chores to do in between all the other things I'm doing or not doing.. LOL.
Okay so here is for the BIG news. I should be getting a paper copy of my orders this week!! My detailer said that I can leave San Diego as soon as February 10th!! and have to check in to my school up in Lemoore California no later than March 10th. I am going on leave Tomorrow morning and will be going up north to pick up my mom and drive to Lemoore to look for apartments/ Houses. If we can find one and get things lined up I will be trying to get my things moved out of here and up there as quick as we can so that I can get some relax and quilting time before I start school. That and get my meows settled in a new place.. it really messes them up when I change schedules and am not home.
So here are some pictures that I took this weekend:

This would be the lake that I woke up to find my truck in the middle of yesterday morning.. I actually waded through the water on the right hand side because my Honda was parked in that spot backwards.. I figured the truck was high enough but didn't want to worry about the car. The water is 2 -3 inched deep and in some areas more.

Well that's it for my news and weather.. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and that you have gotten a lot of sewing done.

It sounds like you have things all under control. OK so I must have missed something along the way. What type of school are you going to? And where is Lemoore California? I take it that it's more north?

Ditto on the questions. Rhoda

Re-enlisting

Okay this is a long and some what painful story. I was getting out in March/ April. But I found out on November 17th that I made First Class Petty Officer (E-6). This was the hurdle that I was trying to over come and was one of the many reasons that I was getting out.
Some of the other reasons included my parents health. My mom had a not so great appointment with they Lymphoma doctor back in July so I was afraid that things were going to get worse. At her appointment in October the doctor said that her counts (blood cell) were back to a level that was acceptable. When he says acceptable he means that they aren't bad enough to start any abrasive treatment. Right now we stand at she's not sick and treatment may only weaken the immune system and make things worse. Dad on the other hand has health issues of his own. He is on meds for his heart and I think that once he retires (in January) that things will get a little better for him.
Anyway (Since the train of thought on this was long gone 2 days ago) I called my parents after I found out that I made E-6 and we talked about things. They both feel that since I finally passed the hurdle that I had been struggling with and I'm already at 10 years that I should keep going. 10 more years really isn't that long when you think about it and to be able to get a military retirement and all the benifits that go along with it... medical, commisary, exchange and others.. it might be worth it to stick with it just a little longer.
I'm sorry that this half written post has been here so long I have been trying to get some of my christmas projects worked on and finished. I'll try to catch up again later

I've been waiting for you to finish! Hopefully your parents will continue to do well. You brought up a lot of good points with the retirement benefits. It'll work out. Just stay safe. =)

As long as you're happy that's all that counts. You brought up alot of valid points for staying in. I'm sure your parents health will continue to improve too. So congratulations and way to go.

So lets see if this works here are some pictures of our Shooter Ball this is my brother (Ryan) and his soon to be wife (Molly)

And here is one of our Color Guard. I was trying to be serious ... honest

I guess that will be all for today .. I really need to get to work I have a LONG LONG day ahead of me.

Your brother and his fiance make an attractive couple. They look very happy. Your color guard looks good. Well, the guy on the left isn't eyes front, but ok. I'm curious to know what your medals are for. Remember, I'm new to military stuff. Rhoda Thanks for the pictures.

I will have to sit down and remember what all the medals are for and let you know Rhoda, with out looking I know I have 3 Good Conduct for not getting in trouble (or most say for not getting caught), 2 Navy Achievement medals for somethings that I have done, Global War on Terrorism Service medal (this ones for being in the service), Global war on terrorism expiditionary medal (this one is for being deployed to the gulf for the war on terrorism), Armed Forces Expiditionary for participating in some activities one of the times I was over seas, and then the National Defense Medal that everyone gets out of book camp but they weren't giving that when I got out of boot camp it was awarded to me after going to the Gulf. I have various other ribbons for other things and My Surface Warfare that is the big Ship pin below my medals (this one is for being Knowledgeable on the workings of my ship.. subject expert on some things ) and then my Air Warfare that is above the metals same concept as surfact but on my Aircraft. I think that is about all. Heather
