Weekend

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. Its been a busy weekend. I brought the meows down to Mom and Dads. Thelma and Louise have settled back in to the familiar that they knew from before but Lilly is spazzing out.

I have helped mom and dad to set up a new computer, fax and all the things that go along with it. That took all day yesterday after we went and bought a bunch of stuff. There are still a few things that I need to help finish setting up.

I wanted to let everyone know about moms blog. Shes up and running no pictures yet but I'm working on that. So here is the address Moms Knit and Crochet Nook. As soon as I can get the chance to write out what she needs to do to add pictures I will send her that email. I was hoping to give her my camera since it was easy to use and buy another one but I haven't had the money to do it.

Hope all is well with everyone. Graduation is Wednesday!! I can't wait! I am so ready to be done with school.

OMG.. What a week!

All I can say is I hope that tomorrow goes by fast this has been the week from well you can guess where. Monday first thing I went to the dentist for an exam, just the usual check up and the Dr said I had all this hi priority stuff!

So I went out to make an appointment for the fillings that I needed and they wanted me to come back in the afternoon. Okay I can do that I just needed to get things taken care of right you know to get things signed off so that I could re-enlist next week. Well they couldn't finish because the base was turning off the water to the dental building and they wanted me to come back on tuesday.

Tuesday I spent the morning in dental.. where they numbed my whole bottom jaw and the top right side all the way up my nose back to my ear.. Let me just say it was not fun. I proceeded to go to school like that and then had my annual appt in the afternoon which is yet another appointment I hate almost as much as the dentist.

Wednesday I woke up still sore from the dentist and tired because I didn't sleep well. I had yet another Drs appointment in the afternoon to talk about my migraines and my elbow, had xrays taken of my elbow to be sure that I didn't mess it up since it was bothering me and finally got home around 5.

Needless to say it has been a busy week and I am just ready for the weekend

My day

Well even though today didn't feel productive I did get alot done. I emailed and called several apartment/ townhouse complexes about vacancies. I'm hoping to get a reply from one of them tomorrow. The sooner I get a reply and can get things in order there in Lemoore the better because they just seem all screwed up here. Although I just got a call from one of the rental places and they say they have no openings. Ugh
So it is one of those days where I felt like I have been running around doing all sorts of things and yet I still feel swamped. Well I am off to go through more paperwork and hopefully get things cleaned up enough so that I can watch a movie or something tonight.

My Weekend .. or lack of one

Well things at work were pretty messed up schedules messed up etc. I guess that is normal for things arpound here. I planned absolutely nothing for this weekend except a quilt lecture at the LQS. It was great. It was all about creating quick and easy quilts with 10 inch squares. The one that they demonstrated was called "Baby Cakes" it was yellow and white and when I can get a picture I'll post it. The weather was perfect quilting weather but I have slept most of the time that I had off and have to be back to work tonight at 10 pm.
I did get some little house cleaning chores done and I'm pretty excited about that! I have my little list of 5 minute chores to do in between all the other things I'm doing or not doing.. LOL.
Okay so here is for the BIG news. I should be getting a paper copy of my orders this week!! My detailer said that I can leave San Diego as soon as February 10th!! and have to check in to my school up in Lemoore California no later than March 10th. I am going on leave Tomorrow morning and will be going up north to pick up my mom and drive to Lemoore to look for apartments/ Houses. If we can find one and get things lined up I will be trying to get my things moved out of here and up there as quick as we can so that I can get some relax and quilting time before I start school. That and get my meows settled in a new place.. it really messes them up when I change schedules and am not home.
So here are some pictures that I took this weekend:

This would be the lake that I woke up to find my truck in the middle of yesterday morning.. I actually waded through the water on the right hand side because my Honda was parked in that spot backwards.. I figured the truck was high enough but didn't want to worry about the car. The water is 2 -3 inched deep and in some areas more.

Well that's it for my news and weather.. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and that you have gotten a lot of sewing done.

Heather

It sounds like you have things all under control. OK so I must have missed something along the way. What type of school are you going to? And where is Lemoore California? I take it that it's more north?

I think this week is going to drag on forever

Have you ever noticed that when your getting ready to go on vacation the week before seems like it will never end? And then while you are on vacation it never seems long enough? Thursday night after work I am taking leave for a few days because I had leave to burn before going on detachment. Every day this week seems to drag on and on.. There are things that I wanted to get done but don't ever seem to have time between work days.. Ugh.. LOL.
I have a list about 10 miles long of things that I want to do while I'm on leave. All sorts of sewing and relaxing. I can't wait!! That alone make me smile.
Well I have got to run..

I know what you mean about time seeming to drag beforehand and then flying by during a vacation! I am set to go to Myrtle Beach in about 2.5 weeks. Thankfully, I will be pretty busy at work so the time will seem to fly by! Have a great vaca!

Good Monday Morning

How is everyone doing today? Most are I'm sure back at work.. ewe.. I bet we all wish that quilting could be our work.. I know I do. I haven't actually done the end quilting part, I'm one of those that has a few tops finished and keeps starting new ones. Smiles.. I have a quilt made for 2 of 4 brothers, one for mom and then two that were just for fun.. plus a couple others that are in the works.. I have a row robin to finish putting together, and blocks from our last challenge block that I won .. yeah.
No sewing today.. woke up not feeling great (migraine.. guess its time to go back to the dr) so I went back to bed. Now its time to start getting ready to head to work. Good thing that I already made a lunch yesterday because I'm even procrastinating that today. What are everyones projects today?
Has any one started on christmas things? I have decided that this year I am going to make some things for myself but haven't figured out what. Oh and we are getting ready for our Christmas in July swap so that is the top of my list too.

Up until this last year all I did was stitch in the ditch on my tops. I would stitch between the rows in both directions and that was enough. I took a Free motion quilting class just this past november and am first getting brave enough to stipple. I have a few tops myself that are sitting there waiting to be done...until I get brave enough.

Since I'm rather new to quilting, I thought that everyone did their own quilting and were quite good at it. So it came as a surprise to me that some people are no more experienced in that part of it than I am! I started by just doing it. I had no clue what I was doing with stippling, and the tension wasn't great - but the machine was 40 years old and probably wasn't designed for that. I also like doing straight lines - crosshatch or vee shaped - whatever the spot calls for. That's pretty easy, you just have to measure and mark it. I have a table runner top done in blues for my daughter for Christmas. She decorates in blues and silvers. I need to finish that sometime soon. I don't have any other Christmas projects planned. Sorry about your migraine. They're the pits, aren't they? The Chiropractor really helps with mine. RhodaEdited by 51050 on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 02:58 PM

Sorry, that you feel so bad. Hope you get better soon. As far as quilting goes, I usually just send my to the quilters, she is really cheap. I have handquilted a couple but that really takes a long time. I did my first machine quilting a few weeks ago, and it was only a small wallhanging. Maybe someday, I will do them all myself. I think someone else on here is working on a Christmas project. It's not too early, it will be here before you know it. It is so funny that you use the name Quiling Cowgirl. On here of course, I am Country Quilter or Kristie, but my website is www.quiltincowgirl.blogspot.com it has alot of my quilts on there. I thought that was so cute, I had to tell my husband that I wasn't the only one that was a cowgirl at heart... Kristie

I'm sorry that you're not feeling to good I'm lucky that I don't get that many migraines. On the matter of quilting, I do all my own as to send out to a quilter here in the UK costs an arm and a leg. I prefer hand quilting but for speed I machine quilt. Nothing fancy, straight lines and free motion love and hugs gina xxx
